If you want to find out about the impact of gas drilling to your neighborhoods, today and tomorrow would be a great place to start.

Two public meetings related to the impact of the Barnett Shale on Fort Worth are planned for this afternoon. The first is a press conference by the North Central Texas Communities Alliance–a broad-based coalition of individuals, organizations and communities working for positive solutions to the problems caused by natural gas drilling– that will start at 4:30 PM on Carter Avenue at Beach Street, long a point of contention between homeowners and gas drillers.

Following the press conference, the NCTCA will hold a Public Information Meeting at the Hotel Trinity Inn Suites at Beach Street and I-30 which runs from 6:00 to 7:30. Speakers will include the town of DISH Mayor Calvin Tillman, small business owner Deborah Rogers–who will discuss the impact the Barnett Shale drilling has had on their lives–Rep. Lon Burnam and others.

The public meeting will be followed by a Beer and Pretzel Mixer hosted by Burnam in the Elvis Room of the same hotel.

A third public meeting will be held tomorrow, Wed., Dec. 2 at 6:30 PM at the Meadowbrook Elementary School (4330 Meadowbrook Dr). That meeting is sponsored by State Senator Wendy Davis, Rep. Lon Burnam and Councilwoman Kathleen Hicks.

All are welcome.

  1. These meetings are very important to the future of Fort Worth. Without an honest and open review of the dangers of gas drilling by residents, cities in the Barnett Shale, including Fort Worth, will be in for a very rude awakening. Please come out and support this effort.
