On this our 17th consecutive day of 100-degree temperatures, and with Mother Nature all dried up and resembling a giant tinder box, it seems obvious that starting fires outdoors is not a good idea.
But common sense and the masses seldom walk hand in hand.
So Tarrant County has officially announced a burn ban effective today. Outdoor burning is prohibited for 90 days. Violators face a $500 fine.
