Stage West just announced the winners of its fifth annual Texas Playwriting Contest. Thirty six entries were narrowed down to five finalists. Two Fort Worth playwrights placed: Laura Lundgren-Smith came in first for her script Seamless, and Rob Bosquez, Jr. was fifth for his play Rare and Strange Creatures. Second place was Stanton Nash’s The Ballad of Sad Young Men; third was Barry Rowell’s Floydada; and fourth was Harold Smith’s Draper’s Boarding House For Women.

As first place winner, Lundgren-Smith receives a cash prize and a reading/workshop of her play at Stage West’s 2012 New Play Reading Festival in February. Congrats to all!
