O.J. took the blame and became the country’s most despised laughing stock just to protect his son. Or so Dear’s theory goes.
I’ve heard suggestions that O.J. Simpson might be considered heroic if he selflessly allowed his reputation to be ruined in an act of paternal love. Note: O.J. was acquitted of the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, yet many people still assume he’s a killer.
Seems to me like a hero would have told the truth no matter the fallout.
