It’s important to remember that the Rose Marine Theatre’s annual Dia de Los Muertos celebration is proudly Mexican in its origins. But like all international celebrations that find their way into the U.S. national consciousness, Day of the Dead has also become an excellent reason for people of all races and ethnicities to throw a party (especially here in Texas). Artes de la Rosa, the visual and performing arts arm of the Rose Marine, is now accepting artwork in all media –– paintings, drawings, sculpture, multi-media, and of course, altars –– for its seasonal Dia de los Muertos Art Show. Deadline for submissions is Oct 25 at the Rose Marine, 1440 N Main St, FW. The Day of the Dead Celebration itself takes place 6pm Sat Nov 2 at the theater.
