The Fort Worth Food and Wine Festival returns, Thu-Sun.

The Fort Worth Food and Wine Festival goes on this weekend, and it’s almost as much of a reason to welcome spring as the warmer weather. The theme of this year’s festival is “Taste the New Texas,” but just to prove that there wasn’t anything wrong with the old Texas’ flavor, the event kicks off with a barbecue showdown in Watt Arena with celebrity judges, live music, and the appropriate beverages for washing down smoked meat. Continuing with the staples is a burgers-blues-and-beer event at Heart of the Ranch at Clearfork, as well as a Sunday picnic on Panther Island to close things out.

If your tastes run to something more upscale, though, the main event in the Pier 1 Building pairs restaurant food created by local chefs and crafters with various wines, beers, and spirits. The Sunday brunch features mimosa and Bloody Mary bars — we’ll admit we’re burning with curiosity about the mimosa bar. And the Saturday dessert event features 12 different sweet creations that all incorporate Firestone & Robertson’s TX Blended Whiskey. With all these libations flowing, make sure you have transportation arranged between all of these events.
