Every once in a while, I revisit one of my favorite television shows. Gilmore Girls is a fast-talking slice of pure small-town Americana that I find irresistible. Will Rory get into Chilton? Harvard? Yale? Yes. Will she choose Dean or Jess? Yes. Will a popular rock star make cameo appearances as a member of gal-pal Lane’s garage band HEP Alien? Again, I say yes. Have I lost my mind? Possibly. If those #FridayNighLights are calling your name, you may want to head to Grapevine. Grapevine Edit says Live Nation is sending a film crew to the Grapevine High School football game tonight to capture the band’s second-half performance of a song from country artist Riley Green’s new album, That’s Just Me, which releases today, for potential inclusion in an upcoming music video. This isn’t the band’s first rodeo. They’ve also collaborated with famous Grapevine native Post Malone before. The Grapevine Mustangs play the Carrollton Newman Smith Trojans at 7pm at Mustang-Panther Stadium (3051 Ira E. Woods Av, Grapevine, 817-251-5210). Admission is $10.

Grackle Art Gallery (4612 El Campo Av, Fort Worth, 817-615-0681) is celebrating Fall Gallery Night with an opening reception for 12 Squared, a textile exhibit highlighting sustainability and local creativity by North Texas artists who have used reclaimed clothing to make new art in an act of environmental mindfulness. In Dallas, nonprofit Amplified Minds is hosting its second annual Louder Than Stigma fundraiser at Kessler Theater (1230 W Davis St, Dallas, 214-272-8346), with live music by Tye Harris and the Cayuga All Stars, plus outdoor acoustic performances by Courtney Hart and Tom Sless. With September as Suicide Prevention Month, the festival’s secondary goal is to help break the stigma surrounding mental health. Every ticket purchased helps provide free individual and group therapy, plus art and music therapy, to Texas artists and musicians ages 18 and older. The festivities start at 6pm in the lobby, with the listening room opening at 7pm and the show starting at 8pm. Tickets start at $32.50 at AmplifiedMinds.org.
Now, back to Stars Hollow. Legendary rock star Sebastian Bach, from ’80s metalheads Skid Row (and HEP Alien), is touring as guest lead vocalist for Twisted Sister and has worked in an author’s tour along the way promoting his memoir, 18 and Life on Skid Row. He will be at the NRH Library for a book discussion and signing event at 7pm. Tickets are $25 on Eventbrite.com and include a copy of the book.
