Here’s a big salute to Natalie Ellis, a 34 year old criminology student at UTA. A volunteer for the UTA Arlington Innocence Network, she didn’t pass up a case file on a 1997 Dallas murder that others had dismissed. Because of her work, two wrongfully convicted men – Claude Simmons and Christopher Scott – were exonerated and just released from their life sentence terms this morning. They reportedly want to go out for steak dinners tonight; let’s hope she’s at the head of the table.
