This Friday (Feb 19), The Art Institute of Fort Worth hosts a 5:30-7:30pm reception for painters Ron Tomlinson and Zack Hawkins to celebrate their joint gallery show there. Tomlinson has practically created a school of Fort Worth art by himself with his protean, otherworldly still lifes and portraits. Hawkins is one of his proteges, as is the painter Drew Snyder, who opened a gallery near San Diego in part to showcase his mentor’s work. The Art Institute’s Tomlinson-Hawkins show runs through March 12 at 7000 Calmont Ave, FW.
