Michael “Big Mike” Richardson, Jeff Dazey (Josh Weathers and the True+Endeavors, EPIC RUINS, Dazey Chain), Rodney Bollinger, Pete Sacco, and Brad Swiger are just some of the North Texas musos who have lent their talents to The Pink Album, a collection of Beatles songs whose lyrics have been tweaked to incorporate myriad euphemisms for women’s breasts, all in support of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The name of the band? The Boobles. Some re-interpretations include “We Love Boobs” (“She Loves You”), “Breasts Are Great” (“Yesterday”), “Wear a Bra” (“Drive My Car”), “Fake Boobs” (“Hey, Jude”), “Wardrobe Malfunction” (“Savory Truffle”), and “Hooters Up the Street” (“Yellow Submarine”). In a couple of months, The Boobles will begin recording their follow-up, Boobey Road, featuring “Buying Brassieres Together” (“Strawberry Fields Forever”), “Lucy is a Guy with Falsies,” “She’s so Top Heavy,” “Breast Reduction” (“Revolution”), and “All You Need is Jugs.” “We’re not dirty or nasty,” says Eric Tomme, who put the project together. “But we are cheeky about it.” The Pink Album is currently in the mixing stage and should be out soon. The Bobbles will be the featured charity at Rahr & Sons Brewing Company next Saturday, the 22nd, and the band will perform on Fri., March 4, at J. Gilligan’s in Arlington (400 E. Abram St., 817-274-8561) to benefit Greater Fort Worth’s Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure (Sat., April 9).
