Most theater companies just send out press releases to announce their upcoming seasons. But co-founders Johnny and Diane Simons of Hip Pocket Theatre like to turn everything into a celebration. Their philosophy is that life, like The Thee-ah-tuh, should be an event for the senses. Hence A Pocket Full of Art, Hip Pocket’s fundraiser and 37th season announcement party starting 6:30pm Saturday March 23 at Arts Fifth Avenue (1628 5th Ave, FW). Besides lots of food, drink, and the peerless acoustic guitar stylings of Darrin “Goldfingers” Kobetich, the Simons have asked some of their visual artist friends to create works in various media for live and silent auctions. Tix are $20 for singles, $37 for couples.
