It’s time once again for the Van Cliburn Amateur Piano Video Contest. The videos went up a few days ago, so now until August 15, you can watch amateur pianists over the age of 35 perform piano music online and vote for your favorites. The contestant videos can be seen here. The winner of the contest will be determined by the voting, and will receive an automatic entry into the Van Cliburn Amateur Competition to be held in summer 2016. The videos are no longer than 10 minutes apiece, and besides the familiar composers, some of the contestants play music by Selim Palmgren, Pierre Sancan, Carlos Guastavino, Albert Pieczonka, and other composers whose music you probably haven’t heard. The winner will be announced on August 19.
