Like this summer, millions of Americans will gather Saturday in thousands of cities nationwide — including Fort Worth — to peacefully protest the White House’s brazen attempts to establish a fascist dictatorship on the very soil for which thousands of antifascist Americans dating back to pre-1776 have made the ultimate sacrifice.
The facts.
The current occupant of the White House has sent masked thugs into American streets to terrorize nonwhites, many of whom are legal residents and noncriminals, neutering due process — fascism.
The current occupant of the White House has bullied media outlets into censuring their work, shredding the First Amendment — fascism.
The current occupant of the White House has strongarmed colleges and universities into shutting up or risk losing federal funding, also rendering the First Amendment completely irrelevant — fascism.
The current occupant of the White House has forced Republican members of Congress to shut down the entire government to prevent a vote to release the clearly personally damaging Epstein files — fascism.
The current occupant of the White House unleashed an angry, violent mob to Congress to stop the certification of an election that he lost — fascism.
And it’s only going to worsen over the next months leading up to the 2026 midterms — if we even have another election, because the president is doing his best to incite enough chaos to call off any voting. It’s the main reason he continues sending federal troops to blue cities: to incite violence (“Fed Intervention?,” Oct 8) to be able to crack down on any form of resistance — or self-protection — then claim he’s keeping streets safe. The best way to keep our streets safe is to send the troops home.
Attendees of the march 11am-3pm Sat at Burk Burnett Park downtown (501 W 7th St, Fort Worth) are encouraged to de-escalate. The president is counting on conflict to be able to declare martial law, allowing him to tighten his grip even further on what were once dependable institutions but that have now been reduced to his personal effects. The far right will also undoubtedly send bad actors to the rallies to ensure conflict occurs to be able to blame it on the attendees and the left. Any rallygoers hiding their identities are probably far-right plants.
This summer, more than 5 million protestors in all 50 states joined No Kings, the largest single-day rally against the White House yet. Fort Worth drew more than 5,000 to Burnett Park (“Fort Worth ‘No Kings’ Rally Draws 5K+,” Jun 15), and like every other rally, Fort Worth’s was peaceful. For Saturday’s march, Fort Worth police will be working in tandem with organizers.
“All No Kings events adhere to a shared commitment to nonviolent rally and community safety,” said organizers Tarrant County AFL-CIO, Fort Worth Area Indivisible, Indivisible TX-24, and Indivisible TX-12. “Organizers are trained in de-escalation and are working closely with local partners,” including Fort Worth police, “to ensure peaceful and powerful actions nationwide.”
After several speakers, the march will begin at noon “with the support of the Fort Worth Police Department,” organizers say.
The march will conclude at Burnett Park with more speakers. For a full list of speakers, participating cities, and event details, visit NoKings.org.
