The Wedgwood Historical Association is back with the fourth installment of its historic home tour, the 2025 Parade of Homes, the largest fundraiser for the local nonprofit that seeks to sponsor the nomination of Wedgwood as a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places.
This year’s tour features three homes that uniquely showcase the midcentury flair of one of the most established planned neighborhoods in Fort Worth, including a 1956 contemporary ranch with all its original interior, a 1964 international-inspired ranch, and a 1963 colonial ranch that has been artfully restored with period finishes following damage from a water main break.
“This year, we have an interesting mix of homes that retain original features to varying degrees but have all been restored to align with their original designs,” said Heather Todd, Parade Committee Co-Chair.
A first this year will be the opportunity to explore some of the neighborhood’s historic commercial spaces, including the former Wedgwood Theatre, which operated from 1967 until the mid-1990s.
The tour will feature exterior and interior docent-guided tours of the properties. Check-in will take place at the Wedgwood Shopping Village (5928 Trail Lake Dr), where tickets may also be purchased on the day of the event. Upon purchasing tickets, paradegoers will receive a map with the exact locations of the properties, which can be visited in any order. The last tickets will be sold at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the parade (children 10 and younger are admitted free).
The event is rain or shine, and no pets or strollers will be permitted. To purchase tickets, visit www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/2025-parade-of-homes-3.
All net proceeds from the Parade of Homes go directly to WHA’s efforts to nominate Wedgwood to the National Register of Historic Places. Wedgwood is a historic master-planned midcentury neighborhood developed between the 1950s and 1970s by E. L. Baker, Irwin Krauss, and S. G. Payte. This “prestige suburb” is a shining example of the American Dream and post-WWII prosperity.
“I don’t think many people are aware of just how historically significant Wedgwood is,” said Nicole Westhoff, WHA President. “Comprised of over 5,000 homes, we’re not just one of the country’s largest midcentury neighborhoods — we are a master planned-masterpiece and a post-war community of heroes! Our mission at WHA is to share our community’s story and preserve an important part of Fort Worth’s identity, and we hope to do that with a nomination on the National Register of Historic Places. Our Parade is a great way to showcase these gems and raise money to do just that.”
The Wedgwood Historical Association was founded in 2021 with the goals of nominating Wedgwood as a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places along with educating community members on historic preservation and Wedgwood’s historical significance.
Tickets for the docent-led interior tours are $20 in advance for ages 13 and up and $25 day-of. A map will be provided after ticket purchase. For more information, visit WedgwoodHistoricalAssociation.org.
