Resurgence Media Group, Saga Arts, and Fathom Entertainment invite you to “experience the edge!” as Point Break “rides the wave back into theaters” in North Texas in the coming days. On Sun, Aug 16, and Wed, Aug 19, you can see the acclaimed action thriller at 13 theaters in (or near) Tarrant County.
Starring Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze alongside Gary Busey, Lori Petty, John C. McGinley, James LeGros, and Anthony Kiedis, Point Break features a blend of crime, extreme sports, and surfing. In Los Angeles, a gang of bank robbers call themselves the Ex-Presidents and commit their crimes while wearing masks of Reagan, Carter, Nixon and Johnson. The FBI believes that the gang’s members could be surfers and sends young agent Johnny Utah (Reeves) undercover at the beach to mingle with them and gather information. As he is drawn deeper into the world of charismatic surfer Bodhi (Swayze) and his thrill-seeking crew, Utah must decide where his loyalties lie.
Along with longtime fans and first-timers viewing this classic on the big screen, audiences will also see an exclusive introduction from surfing legend Matt Archbold, who was the surf double for Patrick Swayze and also helped teach Swayze, Reeves, Kiedis, and the other cast members to surf for the film. In the introduction, he shares behind-the-scenes stories from the production and reflects on the spirit of surfing, freedom, and risk that runs throughout the film.
This theatrical return is also being widely celebrated across the surfing
community, including special content from adrenaline-focused sporting media like Surfer Magazine, Fuel TV, Men’s Journal, and organizations like the World Surf League and the U.S. Open of Surfing.
