With time and space at a premium and Women’s History Month being, well, a month-long celebration, I saved a little something for this week, too. Along with the women in film, music, and the culinary arts hosting events throughout the month and beyond from last week’s Night & Day column, some funny ladies will be gracing local stages soon. Here’s what I uncovered for Weekly Women continued (i.e., this week’s issue).
Arlington Improv
Join the Flip Phone Events troupe in saying, “Thank you for being a friend” to everyone’s favorite gals — Blanche, Dorothy, Rose, and Sophia — at the Golden Girls Drag Brunch, a tribute to the iconic sitcom on Sun, Mar 15, at Arlington Improv Comedy Club (309 Curtis Mathes Way, Ste 147, Arlington, 817-635-5555). Featured performers include Chevelle Brooks, Daphne Rio, Mackinsey Scales, and Jenna Jennaskye Skye. Tickets start at $25.22 at ImprovTX.com/arlington.
You may recognize Adele Givens for her guest-starring roles on sitcoms such as Martin, Moesha, and The Steve Harvey Show, among others. Givens has a new half-hour comedy special premiering on Comedy Central this May. Meanwhile, you can see her at Arlington Improv 7:30pm/9:45pm Fri, Apr 3, and 7pm/9:30pm Sat, Apr 4. Tickets start at $31.40 at ImprovTX.com/arlington.
Sheryl Underwood is best known as a co-host on the CBS daytime show The Talk, bringing her comedic background to the panel for Season 2 in 2011, but she is also famous for her acting roles in Bulworth (1998), I Got the Hook Up (1998), and The Odd Couple (2015). Underwood is bringing her I Need a Job Tour to Arlington Improv from Thu, Apr 30, thru Sat, May 2. For showtimes and tickets, starting at $43.76, visit ImprovTX.com/arlington.

Big Laugh
The upcoming schedule at Big Laugh Comedy Club (604 Main St, Ste 100, Fort Worth, 512-817-9535) is jam-packed with female comedians. In the smaller Funky Room upstairs, there will be shows by Jessimae Peluso (8pm/9:30pm Fri, Mar 27, and 7:30pm/9:30pm Sat, Mar 28), Elle Orlando (8pm/10pm Fri-Sat, Apr 3-4), and Lea’h Sampson (8pm/10pm Sat, Apr 4). Shows in the bigger Panther Room include Tee Sanders (8pm/10pm Fri, Mar 20) and Magen King and Donna Lee with their Not Our First Rodeo show (7:30pm Sat, Apr 11), which is also happening the next day in Irving (see: below).
Then on Thu, May 7, at 8pm, Nicole Burch does Nurse Rachel, the no-filter health-care professional who says what everyone in health care wishes they could, hits the stage with a brand-new 60-minute show, Stay Out My ER. Find tickets for all of the above at FortWorth.BLComedy.com.

Hyena’s
While Hyena’s Comedy Night Club (425 Commerce St, Fort Worth, 817-877-5233) has been in business for over 30 years, they still consistently book both up-and-coming talent and national touring acts. This month and next are no exception, with Stef Dat on Thu, Mar 26, Leah Lamarr on Fri, Apr 17, and Chingona Comedy with Irma Ruiz on Sat, Apr 18.
If you are a chingona, a strong-minded, strong-willed woman, or you know one who is, this is the show for you. Ruiz’s topics include embarrassing moments, parenthood, dealing with the HOA, and more. For tickets and pricing to these shows, go to HyenasComedyNightClub.com.

Punchline
The area’s newest comedy house, Punchline Irving (310 W Las Colinas Blvd, Ste 130, Irving, 469-262-0130) is featuring several female comedians now thru May: Lacie Mosely: Scam Goddess on Thu, Apr 9; Marie Faustin on Sun, Apr 19; Christina P. on Fri-Sat, Apr 24-25; Maddie Mays on Wed, May 20; and Marcella Arguella Fri-Sat, May 22-23 and May 29-30.
Plus, Punchline is the second location of the Not Our First Rodeo tour. Yes, Magen King and Donna Lee have back-to-back dates in Fort Worth and Irving. They’ll be at Big Laugh on Sat, Apr 11, and Punchline Irving on Sun, Apr 12, each at 7:30pm. The organizers of the double-headliner show starring King and Lee promise it will deliver real stories, real perspectives, and the kind of humor that hits a little too close to home — in the best possible way.
“If you’ve ever balanced family, work, relationships, stress, or just tried to survive modern life without losing your mind,” they say, “this show is for you.”

Will Rogers Auditorium
In addition to touring and making over 40 appearances on late-night television throughout her career, Kathleen Madigan has released six stand-up specials, including her most recent, 2023’s Hunting Bigfoot, on Amazon Prime. She will perform on Sat, Mar 21, at Will Rogers Auditorium (3401 W Lancaster Av, 817-392-7469) at the Fort Worth stop of her Day Drinking Tour. Tickets start at $50 on Ticketmaster.com.
Your Place or Mine?
And the winner is … Bridesmaids 2! Just kidding. That’s not a real movie. However, rumor has it that the comedic stars of Bridesmaids — including Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Maya Rudolph, and Kristin Wiig — may be doing a little reunion of sorts onstage at the Oscars in celebration of the film’s 15th anniversary on Sunday. The 98th Academy Awards will air at 6pm on ABC, with streaming available on Hulu, ABC.com, the ABC app, and more. For the best picture of this weekend’s accolades (see what I did there?), I defer to our film editor’s coverage this week in Screen.
