KERA’s Art & Seek blog has noticed that this month’s Esquire magazine features an excerpt from a forthcoming memoir by a Fort Worth poet. TCU lit prof Alex Lemon’s Happy (Scribner) is about his salad days as a booze-fueled hell raiser. Lemon’s writerly pedigree includes having been published in some esteemed outlets, including Tin House, AGNI, the Kenyon Review, and Open City, among others. In 2005, he was awarded a literature fellowship in poetry from the NEA.
