Tomorrow night (Saturday June 16) at 8pm, Arts Fifth Avenue will host an intimate evening with two North Texas musical luminaries –– pianist/composer Joe Rogers and singer/actor Sheran Goodspeed Keyton –– who share a unique artistic history that goes back two decades. As musicians, Rogers and Keyton were both shaped by the blockbuster Jubilee Theatre musicals they helped craft under late founder Rudy Eastman.

Rogers showed Keyton how to scale down and stylistically diversify her big, church-trained voice; Keyton taught Rogers how to compose with all the essentials of musical theater in mind –– character, situation, suspense. With bassist Chris White and drummer Eddie Dunlap backing them at A5A, these longtime friends will be in the mood to mess around Saturday night. Tix are $15. And here’s a little taste from an A5A collaboration between Rogers and Keyton that happened earlier this year.
