Fri 2 – Not many theater troupes like to open new shows during Labor Day weekend, but Onstage in Bedford is taking up the challenge. They’re not easing us into the fall, either, putting on Edward Albee’s searing Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? The fur will be flying when this married couple unearth their big buried secret. The show runs today thru Sep 18 at Trinity Arts Theatre, 2819 Forest Ridge Dr, Bedford. Tickets are $15-20. Call 817-354-6444.

Sat 3 – On principle, we’re not mentioning Cowboys preseason games on this page. However, there will be football this weekend at AT&T Stadium when the AdvoCare Classic kicks off tonight, pitting defending national champion Alabama against USC, ranked 20th but with greater offensive depth this year. With the ticket prices, good luck to actual college students who want to get in. Kickoff is at 7pm at 1 Legends Way, Arlington. Tickets are $100-300. Call 800-745-3000.

Sun 4 – The last crumbs of restaurant week continue here in Tarrant County, and while everybody was in on it two weeks ago, you can still get a deal on a meal at such fine restaurants as Fixture Kitchen, Cacharel, The Melting Pot, and Del Frisco’s Double Eagle. The event runs thru today at various locations throughout North Texas. Prices vary by restaurant. Call your local dining establishment.

Mon 5 – Labor Day is pretty quiet as usual this year, but if you want to get out in an outrageous way, Tomcats West is hosting the Dumpster Divas Drag Show. Frida Monet, Bleach, Eva, and Britney Bloomwood will be performing at the music venue. This is one way to cap off the summer. The doors open at 8pm at 3137 Alta Mere Dr, FW. There is no cover charge. Call 817-570-9966.

Tues 6 – You can expect more than a few commemorations of the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and some of them will be cheesy. If you go to one, though, it should probably be the lecture tonight by Michael Hingson, who was in Tower One when it was attacked and made his way out with the help of his guide dog. He’ll speak at 7pm at Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, 1600 Gendy St, FW. Admission is free. Call 817-255-9300.
