With the winter weather seeming to lift a bit, the Fort Worth area is going all-in on events this week. St. Patrick’s Day falls inconveniently on a Tuesday this year, so most of the events related to that are on the weekend beforehand. Cowtown Goes Green is in the Stockyards, with a beer garden, food trucks, and live music. If you’re closer to Grapevine or merely feeling in a fancier mood, the Kiss Me I’m Irish Express offers beer, hors d’oeuvres, and a train trip through the city. It’s only for adults, though, so the family audience might want to mark the holiday in Fort Worth.

We have a soft spot for Pi Day, which falls on Saturday this year and celebrates math on March 14 every year. (The date of 3/14 contains the first three digits of the mathematical constant. It also happens to be Albert Einstein’s birthday.) A physicist named Larry Shaw inaugurated the holiday in 1988 in the San Francisco Exploratorium with a party where he served pie. Similar celebrations will be happening at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, where there will be pi- and pie-related activities with members of the local Mensa chapter.

Check Calendar for dates, times, locations, and contact phone numbers of the above events.
