WED ▪ 26

The Wondercrust Movie Watchers Club returns with another bad movie for the comedy troupe/filmmaking collective Shut Up and Prance to make fun of. Alfonso Brescia’s 1977 science-fiction opus Cosmos: War of the Planets, an Italian movie badly dubbed into English that rips off 2001 and Barbarella, apparently came too early to steal ideas from Star Wars. The movie screens at 10pm at The Grotto, 517 University Dr, FW. Admission is free. Call 817-882-9331.

On this 150th anniversary of Edvard Munch’s birth, the great artist’s adopted hometown of Oslo is holding a blowout, with two Norwegian museums exhibiting more than 200 of his paintings. But you won’t have to travel to Norway to see them. You can just go to your local movie theater. A video tour of this massive show, Munch 150 will be broadcast at 7:30pm at various theaters. Check Calendar for locations. Tickets are $10.50-12.50. Call 818-761-6100.

FRI ▪ 28

One never needs a reason to hang out and have a drink, but the Camp Bowie Pub Crawl will give you one anyway: Proceeds will go toward beautifying the street. Ring in the weekend with drinks and food at three local watering holes, and don’t forget your designated driver. The crawl starts at 5pm at Riscky’s BBQ, 6701 Camp Bowie Blvd, FW.

SAT ▪ 29

It’s not often that an Oscar winner drops by the Improv in Arlington, but that’s exactly what will happen when Mo’Nique flies into town for a weekend set. After the experience of winning an Oscar for Precious and then hosting a short-lived late-night TV talk show, it’ll be interesting to hear her new material. She takes the stage Fri-Sat at 309 Curtis Mathes Way, Arlington. Tickets are $45-55. Call 817-635-5555.

SUN ▪ 30

The idea of theater versions of The Ugly Duckling and The Tortoise & The Hare might not get you going, but how about seeing those stories played out on a darkened stage with giant puppets decorated with luminescent wires? That’s how the troupe LightWire Theater tells its fairy tales, and it’ll be at Bass Hall only at 4pm at 555 Commerce St, FW. Tickets are $27.50. Call 817-212-4280.

MON ▪ 1

Since the Texas State Senate demonstrated a glimmer of sanity and quietly killed a bill allowing  students to carry concealed weapons on college campuses, now seems a good time to assess our options at Violence on Campus: Legal Issues, Practical Actions, a symposium scheduled for 8:30am-3:30pm at UNT Gateway Center, 801 N Texas Blvd, Denton. Registration is $160-190. Call 940-369-7875.
