Not enough local jazzbos are doing torch music and/or bossa nova-influenced stuff*. Period. So thanks then for Los Noviembres, the Fort Worth duet of guitarist Paul Boll and vocalist Angie Cassada that does justice to the classics and also serves up some silky, classic-inspired originals. The duo plays After Hours at the Kimbell on Sat., Sept. 12, from 5:30 ’til 7:30 p.m. at the Kimbell Art Museum. The evening also will include a cash bar, docent tours, gift giveaways, and light hors d’oeuvres. The event is free for Museum members and $10 for nonmembers, payable at the door. No RSVPs required.

*Not that you care, but one of the first jazz LPs I ever owned was Stan Getz and João Gilberto’s eponymous collaboration from 1964 –– I stole it off my grandmother. For a while, the outgoing message on my answering machine was “Doralice.” I thought I was cooler than shit.
