Circle Theatre is known for its commitment to staging fresh playwriting voices, and you can’t get any fresher than the high school crowd. Circle’s ninth annual High School Playwriting Project readings happen 3pm this Sunday April 28 at the theater’s Sundance Square location (230 W 4th St). The event is free and open to the public.

For 2013, four 10-minute scripts by local teen scribes were chosen as finalists from a pool of 20 plays selected by esteemed Fort Worth theater judges, including Hip Pocket’s co-founder Diane Simons and Jubilee’s artistic director Tre Garrett. All four finalists will be presented Sunday in staged readings directed by frequent Circle collaborator Alan Shorter. The 2013 finalists are: Didn’t Hear It From Me by Meredith Bowden from Aledo High School; Lindsay From Walmart by Mary Geren from Fort Worth Country Day School; Cracked Glass by Sidney Herndon from Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts; and Just a Little Moody by Lindsey Nelson from Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts. Congratulations to all the playwrights.
